Smoking Survey… lets try this again.
I suck. I changed my research paper topic to smoking again and I am currently in the process of doing research, gathering sources, shaping my paper, etc. I once again decided to post this survey. Please only fill it out if you plan to fill out all relevant sections (the sections are: General Information, Current Smoker OR Non-smoker, and both Current Smokers and Non-Smoker.) I appreciate anyone who takes the time to fill this out. Your answers will help me out a lot with my paper. I’m just trying to learn, hence the term Research Paper. Thank you!
General Information:
• How old are you?
• Are you male or female?
• What is your location (optional, but it could be useful, to me, when it comes to the smoking laws where you live)?
• Are you a current smoker?
(Current) Smokers:
• When did you start (years ago and/or age?)
• Why did you start?
• Does anyone in your family smoke (including your partner)?
• What about your closest friends?
• Why do you continue to do it knowing all the risks there are?
• Do you have any specific times or situations when you HAVE to smoke or you smoke more? (I.e. when your friends smoke, when you drink, when you’re feeling stressed out, etc.)
• Does smoking, in your opinion, help to calm your nerves?
• Similarly, is that one of the reasons you smoke, to calm your nerves?
• On average, how many cigarettes do you smoke a day?
• Similarly, how much money, on average, do you spend on cigarettes per week?
• Does second-hand smoke make you question whether you should be smoking?
• Would you urge your current children/future children not to smoke?
• Similarly, would you smoke in their presence?
• Have you ever tried to quit smoking?
• If not, would you ever try?
• What would be your reasons for quitting? What would be your reasons for not quitting?
• Are your friends/associates generally smokers?
• If a loved one threatened to disassociate themselves from you if you didn’t quit smoking, would you?
• What is your opinion on non-smokers, specifically the ones who do not agree with your habit and the ones that want to see stricter smoking laws?
• Have you ever “created” another smoker a.k.a. gotten someone else into the habit (intentionally, or not?)
Non-Smokers/Non-Current Smokers:
• Were you ever a smoker?
• If so, why did you quit and/or how were you able to quit?
• Have you ever asked anyone why they smoke? If so, what were their responses?
• Have you ever tried to help someone quit smoking? Did you succeed?
• Similarly, have you ever known anyone who was successful at quitting smoking?
• What is your opinion on smoking/smokers?
• Would you ever date or marry a smoker?
• Are your friends/associates generally non-smokers, too?
• Would you ever not associate with someone because of their smoking habit?
• Have you ever had anyone try to pressure you into smoking?
• If so, what was your reaction? Their’s?
Both Smokers and Non-Smokers:
• Do you know anyone who has had health complications from smoking or has died from complications from smoking? How about second-hand smoking?
• What is your opinion on the government banning public smoking, smoking while driving in a car with children present, and/or other similar laws/bills?
• Is there anything else you would like to add?
Thank you for participating in my survey. If you have any other questions or ideas please feel free to mention them and I’ll consider adding them to the survey.
Thanks a lot!
Birthday, heyyy.
The semester is coming to a close and that means more work, that’s more involved. I’ve got final papers coming up, not to mention tests and exams. Math is being a royal pain in my butt; I don’t even want to get into it because I’ll just get frustrated.
My birthday was last Friday. I’m 21 now. It’s weird to think I am totally legal now.. an “official” adult, if you will. My birthday was pretty crappy, but I’ve had far worse so I’m over it now. My boyfriend was really upset about how bad it turned out. He had plans to take me to a concert and hang out with the band backstage, and all.
So, what caused the suckiness? First of all, I got my period. It loves to come on days that are actually significant. Next my boyfriend was supposed to work Thursday and Friday, so he’d have the day off + money for Saturday (which was the day we were going to celebrate my birthday) but that didn’t end up happening because work got canceled. Then the biggest of all problems happened; the well at his house stopped working, which meant no water (they did have drinking water, though, thankfully.) Anyone who knows me knows how obsessed with showers I am, so it was a bit difficult going a couple of days without getting to wash my hair (I am OCD like crazy with clean hair) but I didn’t complain. B has a lot on his plate, as it is. I was a bit upset that my birthday didn’t turn out like we had panned, but at the same time, I had sort of prepared myself for it (it’s my luck.) Although I did get upset, I didn’t make a huge ordeal out of it. I don’t like to be selfish. My period was not helping, though. There I was trying not to allow my emotions to take over because my birthday was not the priority, and I’ve got Aunt Flo making things worse. Periods have the tendency to intensify everything; at least mine do.
Oh, and B called me last night; he and his brother managed to get the well working again. Thank goodness.
I almost forgot to mention… I got a new baby Ferret. Her name is Randii, and so far she is doing good. I’ll post pictures of her when I can. My sister took my memory card. Bitch.
Real Dolls.
I was talking with Loony about sex, when the topic of masturbation came up. I told her about this show I had seen where a girl had a male sex doll. That prompted me to search for some links to show her. We were laughing at all of sex technology out there nowadays. Dolls with vibrating tongues and genitals, animal dolls (for both human and animal use), and “bareback mount him” (brokeback mountain) sex doll. Hahaha.
While browsing around one of those sites, I happened to stumble across a link to Real Dolls company. The dolls sold here are extremely life-like. It’s amazing. I was interested in learning more about them, so I did some research and found this documentary. I didn’t think I’d watch the whole thing, but I got into it. The stories are kind of sad. Among the obvious social problems they have, most of these men seem to have a mother complex — which could very well be the reason for their social problems.
The first guy lives with his parents and later mentions that on a shopping trip with his mother he chatted up a mannequin, which started his obsession with dolls. The second guy lived with his mother; she died eleven years ago and he keeps her room just as she left it. Another guy, perhaps the weirdest of them all, reminds me of Freaky Firehouse dude. This man, too, could easily be Norman Bates, in my opinion. In case anyone watches the video, he’s the one that lives in Virginia. He’s got long hair, can play the drums pretty well, is the most obvious nutjob of them all, and also seems to have a mother complex. He had a pretty crazy dad who left his family when he was two; he was raised by his mother.
He shows a picture of a girl he was living with ten years ago. After she left him he says something like this “[She left November 21st] which is really kind of cool because it saved me from having to buy a lot of Christmas presents.” Um, yeah.. he’s only fooling himself. All of these men admit that they have the dolls for companionship, and this dude’s no exception; but I think he is the one that needs some real companionship the most. Although I’m not sure how much good it would do him. He’s beyond help, I think. Freaky Firehouse dude was, too.
Doll Repairman: I’m running out of vaginas.
Girlfriend of Doll Repairman [earlier said she used to be jealous of how amazing their bodies were but she's gotten over it]: I don’t think he glues on pubic hair and goes ‘oh god, I want to lick that pussy right now.’
Last Guy: If I wake up at three in the morning — which I have — with a raging hardon, I can go in the garage, grab a doll, throw her on her back, and go for it. You can’t necessarily do that with a woman. She’s a person. She has a mind. You have to ask; and she has a right to say no.
It really was a very interesting video.
Oh, oh! And I think these two pictures of the male real doll are hilarious. Men will be men.
